Julia B. Morrison School would like to welcome our community of learners back for the 2010-2011 school year. We are excited about the possibilities and opportunities we will encounter this year. We are sure it will be a very productive year and we are looking forward to working with all our stakeholders to make this our best year yet!

Morrison is proud to announce that we have once again exceeded our API goals. Morrison’s API for the 2009-2010 school year is 840 which represents a gain of 21 points. Our English Learners grew by nearly 18 points, helping our school close in on eliminating the achievement gap. We are proud of all our students and their hard work!

Music has always been a part of Morrison’s curriculum, but this year we are building upon our existing model to further enhance learning in the classroom. We will now have 2 artists in residence on our site, Evan Eliason and Yoon Cho. Our students will be singing, learning to read music as well as expanding their knowledge of rhythm, tempo and beat. They will be learning on a variety of instruments that include; world percussion, recorders, bells, xylophones and string instruments, culminating in performances for our students and their families.

At Morrison we continue to be committed to our goal of providing a caring, positive and safe learning environment where each child is encouraged to make responsible choices and to develop the academic skills necessary to reach their maximum learning potential.
